Lake of Bays Steps Up for Canadian Troops

Hello Everyone,

This is by no means a generic letter of thanks, but instead, a sincere show of gratitude for all the people and groups that have supported our Marching for Veterans Campaign/ Support the Troops events past, present and in the future.

Yesterday, we had our best event to date. Tony Clement and his staff jumped on the bandwagon and gave us a venue in the best location, with all the stops pulled out, with all the help and support we could ever ask for or expect...............with it all unfolding without any snags.

And then there were you people and the groups some of you represent, coming in one after the other with bags and boxes of items for the troops.  Everything that we unpacked and sorted.........then repacked into the cartons where just the things that the troops needed !  The toiletries, the towels, socks, candies and snacks, the cookies the letters and the cards from home.  It was all wonderful.  It was all just what our men & women serving in Latvia had asked for.

We'll be driving the 20 cartons we amassed down to CFB Trenton, probably Wednesday morning.  The transport aircraft is scheduled to leave on Thursday, so it all works out perfect.  And the troops should have their "care packages" in camp, shortly thereafter.

These troops are all volunteers, all placing themselves in harms way as a new "Cold War" in Europe unfolds again.  And these cartons or "care packages" do make a difference in their daily lives.

So again, thanks to those who have donated..........those who continue to donate and to those who may donate at future SUPPORT THE TROOPS events.

Rick
