The link below is our Annual Report.Annual Reports are like diaries that we can look back and remember what was going on in the church community. One of the things COVID has taught us is resilience. We have to be ready to change as the need arises. Long-term goals remain but we have to be flexible in achieving them.2019-2021 ANNUAL REPORT LOB

On Sunday, September 19, 2021 at the Dorset Pavilion, we had a special covenanting service for Rev. Nina Fulford and the Lake of Bays Pastoral Charge. A Covenanting Service in the United Church of Canada formally celebrates the new relationship between a minister and the congregation by making promises to one another. We promised to support Rev. Nina in her ministry and to join her in worship, study, prayer and action. Rev. Kathleen Taylor, our liaison from Shining Waters Region was present and Pastor Doreen Mason, from Evergreen Pastoral Charge offered a reflection about the many talents and the wealth of experience that Nina brings to our church.
There was a presentation of symbols by members of the congregation and Nina's daughter Lianne, and they were accepted and placed on the table. They include the bible to be among us as one who teaches and proclaims the Word, a jug of water for baptism, a towel and basin to serve and seek justice, a chalice and plate to break the bread and care for those who hunger and thirst, a hymn book for praise and joy, a ball of yarn for the ties between our members, a calendar for the time we will share and the duties and responsibilities that we all have, and finally, a candle to represent the Holy Spirit, the Light of the World that we are all called to carry and share.Rev. Nina remarked "We will celebrate the journey you and I will make over the next 12 months. I feel really inspired by the service, the sharing through the symbols, the words and worship." We welcome Rev. Nina Fulford with open hearts.

Support the Knox Revitalization Project, Dorset
Hello Friends and Supporters of Knox United Church
Well here we are, still in this difficult time of change and uncertainty. Small rural churches, like Knox United in Dorset, have used this time to reflect and sometimes struggle with new ways to be relevant and to serve their wider communities while maintaining a familiar presence in those communities.A persistent barrier for Knox to developing new projects and innovative community programs has been realities such as crumbling stairs and safe accessible access to the building. The new Food Rescue program highlighted the need for major improvements to the Knox church and access to it for members, visitors and volunteers and to provide more community programs.Discussions exploring how to get help with the project led to a remarkable partnership with Sandy MacKay, general contractor, and the Dorset Community Partnership Fund which allowed us to proceed with the Revitalization Project. The project is moving forward with a signed engineering plan, grant applications and now fundraising which is off to a great start with two grants received totaling $7,500.Our fundraising goal for 2021-22 is $80,000 and the Revitalization Project will address:
- Accessibility: Remake stairs, walkways and entrances with the addition of ramps
- Flexible Use of Church Building: Develop interior spaces for multipurpose use
- Green & Sustainable Improvements: Siding, windows, insulation and septic upgrades
- Enhance/Increase Capacity for Community Programs: Continuation of the winter Food Rescue project, random acts of kindness, book clubs, pie fundraisers and seniors gift baskets. Provide future opportunities like concerts, art shows, small group social activities, meetings and more!
- Preserve Heritage and Church Presence: Knox has been an integral part of the history of Dorset since 1894. It is the only remaining church in the village offering church services, weddings, funerals, fellowship and opportunities for community volunteering.
